I like to use Murphy’s oil soap.You can find it most any where.
The best way is a product called naphthalene. It’s what professional refinishers use. You rub it on with a cloth and then rub off the residue left behind. The advantage of this syuff is that it takes off the oils and gunk that build up over time but won’t affect the actual finish. Be advised that you should wear gloves when handling this stuff because it’s a nasty chemical. It won’t burn you or anything but you really want to keep exposure of such things to a min.
Never use water on furniture, & it is not necessary to use harsh chemicals either, Scott’s Liquid Gold Wood Cleaner & Preservative is all you need to use on any type furniture I have used it for many years. You can purchase it at walmart, it comes in a 12 oz spray can with a bright red top.
